For children who have survived, especially those living in the free territories, the war has taken something else from them: their access to education.
Hundreds of schools have been destroyed after being targeted in air strikes and the vast majority of families cannot afford to pay school fees.
Dar al Ilm school in Darkoush, Idlib, is currently providing an education to over 250 students. However, the school is in desperate need of funding to expand it to accommodate for new classes and students.
